Saquarema is a lovely little beach town that has received a lot of attention in recent years from local, state and federal goverment agencies, funding the development of Saquarema to make it a showcase for the State of Rio de Janeiro. Located just an hour and a half from Rio, Saquarema has lots of charm, more than it's share of stunning coastline and is still close enough to the city to make a night on the town reasonable.

Saquarema is home to international surf and beach volley ball competitions, was the training center for Brazil's olympic volley ball team, and is a major draw during New Years and Carnaval. It has dozens of lovely little bars and restaurants along the beach promenade and a wide variety of shopping, social and entertainment activities available to keep you occupied.
